Do you fancy the Sony Xperia S badly enough, that you are willing to put off any and all smartphone purchases between now and the date when the Sony Xperia S hits the market? Well, we now know that there might just be another attracting factor to place the Sony Xperia S on your smartphone shortlist if you are in the market for one – it will now be able to support the PlayStation Store.

Yes sir, portable gaming is definitely a niche market that is worth exploring for hardware manufacturers, and with Sony’s experience thanks to their PSP (and now, PS Vita), it does make sense to blur some of the lines between a smartphone and a handheld console.

From Tuesday onwards, those who clicked on the app for the PS Store will be greeted by a web page where the storefront and the PS Pocket app can be downloaded onto your Sony Xperia S.

Prior to downloading both apps, you will first need to give permission to your device to install non-Market apps in Settings > Applications. If you want to access Sony’s gaming catalog, just make sure you have a PlayStation Network or Sony Entertainment Network account beforehand.
