The other day we reported on alleged leaked photos of the upcoming Sony NEX-5R. While the photo itself looks pretty convincing, what we are lacking at the moment is a proper release date. Well thanks to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, it seems that photographers who are looking forward to additional Sony mirrorless cameras, the NEX-5R is rumored for an official announcement on the 29th of August. Assuming those dates are to be believed, we can look forward to seeing official photos and official specs after all the rumors. For those who have not been keeping up with the rumors, word has it that the Sony NEX-5R will sport a brand new 16MP image sensor and WiFi connectivity. As for its NEX-6 sibling, word has it that it will be announced in September instead. We’ll take this with a grain of salt for now, but given that we’re only a week away from the 29th of August, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to find out if the rumors are true!
