During today’s BlackBerry Live event taking place in Orlando, FL, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins took the stage to announce a few things during the show. One of those things was a new BlackBerry device specifically geared towards emerging markets called the BlackBerry Q5.
The BlackBerry Q5 is a BlackBerry 10-powered smartphone that has a full physical keyboard and resembles the BlackBerry Q10 in its look and shape. The BlackBerry Q5 is expected to be made available across BlackBerry’s carrier partners starting as early as this summer and will come in four different colors: White, Black, Red and Pink.
Judging by the device Heins held up during his keynote at BlackBerry Live, the outer shell of the BlackBerry Q5 looks to be made of plastic as well its keyboard. Its screen size seems to be similar to the BlackBerry Q10‘s, which features a 3.1-inch LCD. The Q10 is equipped with a touchscreen, but it’s unknown at this time if the BlackBerry Q5 will feature a touchscreen as well. We’ll certainly keep an eye on the Q5’s stats once BlackBerry makes them available, but for those of you who want to enjoy the BlackBerry 10 and are a budget-minded customer, then keep an eye out for the BlackBerry Q5 when it’s released this summer..
