fujitsu-kidukuFujitsu has agreed to work with a trio of Irish research groups on what the Japanese giant has called KIDUKU. Just what the heck is KIDUKU? For starters, this will not be any kind of puzzle game which will help stave off senility, but rather, KIDUKU is a sensor-based healthcare project which will hopefully be able to do its bit in preventing cases of falling especially among the elderly, not to mention helping to improve the understanding of chronic lung cancer.

The KIDUKU system will boast of wearable sensors that monitors the biological, social and physical aspects that are within the wearer’s immediate surroundings. One can opt to use this in either a home or community environment, so that doctors as well as nurses might be able to discover the early stages of crippling diseases. After all, prevention is better than cure, but early treatment is also crucial as part of the cure. We do not have the nitty gritty on how this particular technology is going to work, but one thing is for sure – it does seem to carry plenty of positive possibilities.
