Twitter has announced today that it is updating its Android, iOS, Mac and Tweetdeck apps as well as rolling out the change over to twitter.com and mobile.twitter.com. The update brings a much needed feature, direct message sync. No longer will users face an unread notification when they log in to their Twitter account on another device. Once a direct message has been read through any of the aforementioned mediums, its “read” status will be synced across all mediums.

Improvements to search results have also been made to mobile.twitter.com, iOS and Android app. Searching for people on Twitter now allows users to see expanded result that shows the full bio of a user, swiping to the left will bring up similar accounts. There’s also a new in-app indicator in search results which will show when there are new tweets for a query. On Twitter for Mac, the Connect tab will now show interactions as well, allowing users to see favorites and retweets along with @mentions. Support for Danish, Filipino, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish and Thai languages has also been added to Twitter for Mac. The updates are now available for download through Google Play, iTunes App and Mac App Store.
