ps4-revealed-8We’re sure that many gamers out there have already pre-ordered their copy of the Sony PlayStation 4 which is expected to see a release on the 15th of November, but what about gamers who might not have had the chance to place their pre-order, or who are waiting to see if the console is worth their time and money? It seems that given the popularity of the PlayStation franchise, walking into a retailer and picking one up without pre-ordering on launch day would seem highly unlikely, but that does not appear to be the case. Speaking to Fox Business, SCE CEO Jack Tretton revealed that the company is actually holding back some copies of the console for gamers who did not pre-order to get their hands on it on launch day itself.

According to Tretton, “We want to make sure that consumers have an opportunity to buy one on November 15 and through the holidays […] We’re holding back some inventory to make sure that people have an oppourtunity to buy one that come in on launch day.” Presumably this is the North American market Tretton is talking about here, so we’re not sure if this will apply to other countries where the console will launch on the 15th of November as well. However we also expect that the units should be selling like hotcakes, so if you didn’t pre-order, you might want to hit up your game retailer early just to be safe.
