whatsapp-logo-newIf you have used WhatsApp before, you know that WhatsApp provides statuses on you that your friends and contacts can see. Basically it tells them when was the last time that you were seen online on WhatsApp. It’s handy if you want to check if a particular number is still being used for WhatsApp, but at the same time can be kind of stalker-ish.

The good news is that WhatsApp for Windows Phone could soon be getting a new privacy feature which allows users to select who can see their “last seen” status, thus blocking off any stalkers and exes that you might not wish to keep in contact with, or at least not let them into your life anymore.

While this feature has yet to be officially announced, it was revealed in WhatsApp translation strings which showed off the upcoming feature. Apart from determining who can see your “last seen” status, WhatsApp will also allow you to limit your profile to strangers who might have your number and can check if you’re on WhatsApp or not.

We’re not sure if these changes have long been planned or if they were suggested when Facebook announced their plans to acquire the company. As it stands this feature is currently in testing for Android, so presumably we can expect it to arrive for Windows Phone at a later date as well, although we’re not sure if this will be arriving sooner rather than later, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled anyway.
