Is virtual reality set to become the next big thing in terms of entertainment? Or will it end up like 3D technology where it has been relegated to something of a novelty feature? Well if Facebook’s interest is any indication, it looks like virtual reality does appear to be poised to become the next big thing.

Now the Oculus Rift is definitely not the only virtual reality headset in the market at the moment and Sony has entered the fray themselves with Project Morpheus, a virtual reality headset of their own. Now if you were unable to attend GDC 2014 and were wondering what Project Morpheus is all about, Sony has since uploaded Project Morpheus’ entire GDC presentation.

The video above runs for almost an hour long and it’s basically where Sony talks about their latest invention, what it mean to them, what their plans are for it, and so on. Sony has also released a hands-on video of Project Morpheus in action, although in the case of virtual reality headsets, we guess you will need to see it in order to understand what’s going on, although hopefully the video will be able to clue you in.

Project Morpheus is currently a prototype by Sony and has been in development for the past 3 years. There’s no telling when Sony, or Oculus VR for that matter, plans on making it available to the public (we assume that’s the goal eventually), but it’s definitely something worth looking forward to.
