nintendo-logoIf you were hoping to hear some announcements from Nintendo during E3 2014, you probably will, except that Nintendo won’t be there themselves to deliver said announcements. Instead Nintendo has revealed that they will be delivering their E3 announcements via a digital event of their own.

This is not a bad idea since it allows gamers from around the world to stream Nintendo’s event, which may or may not be available if Nintendo were to hold their announcement at E3 in person. The company’s digital event is scheduled to take place on the 10th of June where the Nintendo Direct conference will “further detail on the gaming experiences on the way for Nintendo platforms in 2014 and beyond.”

Nintendo believes that by holding the event online, it will “the best way to show its games and share its news with fans, media and other key audiences.” This is actually the second time that Nintendo will be skipping on E3. The company opted out of an E3 press conference last year where they instead chose to hold smaller events.

However Nintendo will be at E3 this year, so fret not, and they have also confirmed that they will be holding a Super Smash Bros. tournament for both the Wii U and 3DS platforms. The tournament will feature 16 players competing live at the Nokia Theatre LA LIVE. The game itself will be playable at North American Best Buy stores.
