samsung-galaxy-s3-review-39

A few days back Samsung finally ended speculation about the Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 KitKat update. The company confirmed that it won’t release a KitKat update for the device since its 1GB RAM isn’t enough to “load system apps.” However it was only a matter of time before third party developers stepped in. Most people like Android for the vibrant developer community and Galaxy S3 owners that were left out will certainly feel the love now. Unofficial Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 KitKat ROM is available for download now.

Do bear in mind that since this is an unofficial ROM you will be required to root the device. A custom ROM can not be installed otherwise. Its not exactly hard to root a device but the process might be daunting for first timers, its best to know what you’re getting into before tinkering at that level.

That being said, some other things have to be considered as well. Like the fact that unofficial builds often have many bugs which can irk users that expect a flawless experience. The third party developers that have created the ROM have got most of the features working. Wi-Fi, 3G, camera, text messaging all work but some sensors and other features don’t. This needs to be ironed out and will be over time.

The unofficial Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 KitKat ROM is available for download along with install instructions from here.
