Grand Theft Auto 5

During the announcement of its results for fiscal year 2015 Take-Two Interactive revealed that it has shipped more than 33 million copies of Grand Theft Auto 5. It wouldn’t be an unfair assumption to say that GTA 5 is a popular game. In fact the title accounted for half of all game software sales for Rockstar in the month it launched. For Take-Two, GTA 5 has already generated more than $1 billion in revenue.

The publisher is certainly having a good year thanks to this popular title. Though it should be kept in mind that this figure only indicates the number of copies shipped. It doesn’t mean that 33 million copies have already been sold. Some of them might still be sitting on shelves somewhere, still its no easy feat.

According to Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two, claimed GTA 5 became the fastest title to cross $1 billion establishing a new record in the entertainment industry. He also said that NBA 2K14 became the strongest launch of the franchise and Borderlands 2 became the top-selling title at 2K.

Grand Theft Auto 5 owners have already received a string of updates for the online component. Just the week the GTA Online High Life update was released which brings new behaviours, weapons, cars, properties and more.

Rockstar is expected to bring it to next generation consoles by the end of this year. It may even launch GTA 5 for PC, a port that nearly a million people have already signed a petition for.
