While there have been many rumors of Verizon offering the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone at some point in the future, we’ve even seen purported pictures of the handset with Big Red branding, this is the first time we’re hearing that the Xperia Z2 Tablet might make its way to Verizon as well. Obviously there’s no confirmation from Sony or Verizon as yet so we must take this with a grain of salt.

Though its interesting to note that this little piece of information comes from well known Twitter leaker @evleaks, who simply claimed in a Tweet that “Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet coming to Verizon.” No further details were provided so its not known exactly when this is going to happen.

As far as the tablet itself is concerned the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet has a 10.1-inch 1,920×1,200 pixel resolution display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM and 16/32GB storage options. There’s a microSD card slot for folks who would like to expand memory externally.

On the back there’s an 8.1 megapixel camera and a 2.2 megapixel shooter on the front. Power is provided by a chunky 6,000mAh battery and the tablet ships with Android 4.4 pre-installed. It even as the same IP58 water resistant certification as the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone.

Sony Store sells the 16GB Wi-Fi only model for $499, $599 for the 32GB. Verizon’s variant is likely to have LTE capability but pricing is not known at this point in time.
