ipod touchIt’s been a while since we heard from Apple with regards to their iPod lineup. We guess with our mobile phones being more than capable of playing music, there really is no need for an extra media player, unless of course you’re looking for a way to conserve your phone’s battery. That being said, according to a source of MacRumors, they claim that a new iPod touch is on its way and could be launched Tuesday next week.

According to their source, the new iPod touch will offer up 16GB of storage and a rear-facing camera, versus the 32/64GB options from before. They also claim that the iPod touch will come in six different colors and will be priced at a somewhat affordable $199, so if you’re looking for an affordable media player, we guess the new iPod touch could be worth your consideration.

For those a little skeptical, a similar report has surfaced on iGen.fr who claims that their source informed them that a single iPod touch would be launched, which sounds a lot like this 16GB model MacRumors had heard about. The last time Apple launched a new iPod touch was back in 2012 with the 32 and 64GB model. They also introduced a 16GB model but took out the rear-facing camera to cut down on costs.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but assuming the rumors are true, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
