5.5-Inch iPhone 6 Supply Rumored To Be Limited At Launch

This fall Apple is expected to launch two new iPhones that have large displays. 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch are widely believed to be the display sizes that Apple has locked in. Even though there has been no confirmation from the company itself countless rumors and reports claim that these are the display sizes for the iPhone 6. A new report from Korea suggests that much like the iPad mini with Retina display launched last year, supply of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 might be constrained at launch.

Economic Daily News of Taiwan claims that Apple isn’t going to have enough sapphire displays on hand to produce enough 5.5-inch iPhone 6 units to meet demand. Analysts expect the new display sizes to bring about a spike in demand for the new iPhone since this is the first time that Apple’s smartphone are going to have significantly larger displays than their predecessors.

The report does say that the constraint wouldn’t affect initial supplies of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 or the iWatch for that matter, which is expected to be unveiled alongside the new iPhones this fall. Both devices are expected to be available in sufficient quantity when they launch as per schedule.

Supply chain sources are cited in the aforementioned report, which doesn’t really reveal exactly how the production of Apple’s next generation iPhone is going. Since these are unofficial and unverified sources its probably best to take this information with a grain of salt.
