Unlocked Nokia Lumia 1020 Now Available From Microsoft Store

Nokia-Lumia-1020-hands-on-review-1One of the upsides to signing a contract with a carrier is that you get to purchase a phone from them for cheap, or in some cases even free. However it also means that you would have to sign with the carrier for the next two-years, locking you down, so if you wanted to switch or get out of the contract, you’d have to pay a penalty.

However if you’d rather have the freedom, you can always purchase your phone outright and if you have been eyeing the Nokia Lumia 1020, you might be interested to learn that the handset is currently available for purchase via the Microsoft Store. The handset is unlocked and it will work with either AT&T or T-Mobile’s network. In fact it will also allow you to get access to LTE on T-Mobile’s network.

Other than that, the handset’s specs will remain the same as the first time it was launched, so users can look forward to a 4.5-inch HD display, 32GB of onboard storage, a whopping 41MP rear-facing camera, and will come with Windows Phone 8 preinstalled, although based on the listing, it is eligible for an update to Windows Phone 8.1. It is priced at $549.

According to the earlier rumors, word on the street is that the handset has been earmarked for end of life status either on the 14th of September or 15th of October. What this means is that after either of these dates, the phone will no longer be available for purchase, so if you were still on the fence, you will want to make your decision ASAP!
