$199 HP Chromebook Specifications Leaked

hpspecsheet_story-mainWhen it comes to Chromebooks, we are pleased to note that at least this particular market niche did not end up like the netbook, as that product went out with a whimper not too long after the advent of tablets. Sure, it was small and portable, but in terms of productivity, it never really managed to get the job done. Google’s Chromebook, however, has fared a whole lot better, and here we are with a leak of an upcoming HP Chromebook that costs all of $199, but theoretically speaking, if the leak is correct, it does look to be a decent performer.

It looks as though HP has decided to ditch Intel’s Atom processor, and go for the AMD A4 Micro-6400T Quad-Core SoC with 1.0GHz (up to 1.6GHz) instead, where it also sports the Radeon R3 integrated graphics unit that runs on only 4.5 watts of energy. In other words, this particular Chromebook ought to be able to run without the need for an active fan – which results in a quieter operation.

Not surprisingly, the RAM remains stuck at what you get during the purchase, and it is capable of carrying a maximum of 2GB RAM, so do make a wise choice before your purchase. Storage space remains at either 32GB of 64GB of internal memory, although an SD memory card slot does come in handy, while one would also be able to enjoy 100GB of OneDrive storage for two years. The 14” display at 1366 x 768 resolution is functional, although better displays have been seen.
