Earlier this month it was revealed that 2K Games would finally be bringing the BioShock universe to iOS devices. Well the good news for BioShock fans who are looking to relive their BioShock moments on their iPhone or iPad is that the game has been officially released and is available for download via the iTunes App Store.

Unfortunately if you were hoping that the game would be priced like a mobile game, think again. The developers have slapped a somewhat hefty (hefty as far as mobile games are concerned) price tag of $14.99 on it. Also due to the somewhat graphically intensive nature of the game, it will not be compatible on older devices like the iPhone 4S or below, third-gen iPad or below, first-generation iPad mini and the iPod touch.

That being said if you have an iOS device that can run the game just fine, you can look forward to a full port of the original BioShock game that was released on the PC and the Xbox back in 2007. The game has been modified slightly to include controls designed for mobile devices. It is also expected to feature Bluetooth controller support if that’s what you prefer.

Unfortunately there was no mention of whether 2K Games would be bringing the game onto Android devices, although last we heard there are currently no immediate plans to bring the game onto Android, so it looks like Android gamers are out of luck for now.
