HTC never really had much luck when it came to churning out tablets, and their HTC Flyer did not take off to the skies as HTC intended. Still, despite the scars that were left behind, it does look as though the next premium Google tablet is rumored to be assigned to HTC to manufacture, where some have dubbed it as the Nexus 8, while others have called it the Volantis or Flounder. Another source touts that the codename for this mystery HTC tablet will be T1, where it will boast of an 8MP shooter at the back with a 1.6MP front-facing camera, not to mention Android L as the operating system version of choice right out of the box.

Not only that, it seems that the Nexus 8 tablet could very well have made its way through the certification process over in South Korea, where a device known as the “0P8210000” is said to have passed with flying colors. The rear end of this device has been seen before, also carrying the name Flounder.

It remains to be seen just what this HTC manufactured tablet will look like, but chances are pretty high that it will be a premium device – far more exquisite than the existing Nexus 7 tablet. So far, the good money would have been placed on an 8.9″ display at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels resolution, a 64-bit Tegra processor, 4GB RAM, and a Qualcomm LTE modem.
