samsung-watchon-plusLike many other OEMs that make Android devices Samsung includes certain software on its devices that are exclusive and not available for any other Android device. Take WatchOn for example, the app basically serves as a TV guide and a universal remote for gadgets like DVRs, set-top boxes and TVs. An overhauled version of the app debuted with Samsung Galaxy S5 earlier this year now the company has released the updated version for Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3.

Not only did Samsung ship the new app with every Samsung Galaxy S5 unit it also listed the app on Google Play Store. Even though it was available on Google’s primary app repository WatchOn remained exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S5, and was not opened up to other devices from either Samsung or rival OEMs.

Today Samsung has released the WatchOn Plus app for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. Its basically the same application with its updated user interface that has been released for the company’s 2013 flagships. The app may be separate but its identical in form and function to its Galaxy S5 counterpart.

Those Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 owners who want to take the new app for a spin can download it right away, the company hasn’t said if the app would ever be opened up to Android devices from other manufacturers.
