amiiboIf you’re thinking that maybe you will be able to pick up a Nintendo Amiibo figurine from any retailer you want in the future, you might want to rethink that. It seems that Nintendo will be making some Amiibo figurines exclusive to certain retailers, meaning that if you tend to shop at one particular retailer because of reward points and loyalty cards, you’ll need to start expanding the places where you shop.

This was recently revealed in a video on Nintendo America’s channel in which they revealed the exclusivity of some figurines. For example the Shulk Amiibo figurine will be an exclusive to GameStop, so gamers who are interested in checking it out will need to head on over to GameStop’s website to get their hands on it.

For those unfamiliar with Amiibo, this is basically Nintendo’s version of Skylanders. These are figurines/toys that are of various characters from Nintendo’s franchise of games. They are physical toys that can be used in conjunction with video games, just like how Skylanders is both a physical game and a video game at the same time.

Recently Nintendo has mentioned that they are planning on allowing third-party developers access to these figurines. As it stands it seems that Amiibo is only available for Nintendo’s first-party games, but opening it up to third-party games would allow more use of the toys, which in turn could encourage more customers to get it.
