Apple_IBM_Passenger-PRINTEarlier this year, Apple and IBM announced a partnership in which it would see Apple’s renewed efforts at making a name for themselves in the enterprise market. Well if you’re wondering what fruits would bear in the partnership between Apple and IBM, you might be interested to learn that both Apple and IBM have recently announced a handful of iOS apps aimed at businesses.

Dubbed IBM MobileFirst for iOS, this includes a suite of apps aimed at a businesses in different industries. For example you have apps aimed at the airline industry for both the business side of things and for flight attendants. There will also be apps for the banking and financial markets, insurance, government, retail, and telecommunications, so safe to say that the number of apps is varied indeed.

Companies will also be allowed to customize the suite according to their needs and link them to their own internal business services. IBM has also stressed the importance of security which is important as these apps could potentially contain sensitive information that companies would not want leaked to the public or to their competitors.

According to Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, “This is a big step for iPhone and iPad in the enterprise, and we can’t wait to see the exciting new ways organizations will put iOS devices to work. The business world has gone mobile, and Apple and IBM are bringing together the world’s best technology with the smartest data and analytics to help businesses redefine how work gets done.”
