IntelLogo1Intel, a name that is synonymous with computer chips and recently made it to the news once again by working on the new ACAT system that is used by Professor Stephen Hawking, is said to be working alongside Luxottica Group SpA – where this particular collaborative effort intends to deliver smart eyewear, which looks set to be yet another expansion of Intel’s foray into the territory of wearable technology.

Of course, this does not mean that the results will be instant for such a collaboration, but we have learnt that the very first product that will hail from the two companies’ multiyear research and development partnership will roll out some time next year – although there is no exact timetable revealed just yet as to which particular month this iconic event will happen.

Luxottica happens to play a leading role in the premium and sports eyewear, and some of their more famous brands out there in the market include the likes of Ray-Ban, Persol and Oakley. We also know that Intel will be the ones supplying chips for the Google Glass from next year onward, taking over from where Texas Instruments left off. Could this be a new era for Intel as they play a bigger role in the wearable tech market?
