The Simpsons content packs from Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and Xbox are scheduled for launch in late February. The packs will bring the much loved characters of Springfield to life in “fully-textured cubic glory.”

Included in the downloadable pack is the entire Simpsons family, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, as well as 19 characters from Springfield Elementary School.

The Simpsons content pack for Minecraft on Xbox is going to cost $1.99 when released next month. Previously content packs based on Star Wars and Doctor Who have been released.

Xbox chief Phil Spencer said that the 17 million strong Minecraft community on Xbox Live has been “clamoring” to bring Simpsons characters to the game, and now that they’re almost here, their wish has been granted.

Initially these content packs will only be available for Xbox One and Xbox 360. That might have to do something with the fact that Mojang, the studio behind Minecraft, is owned by Microsoft.
