starbucks wirelessWe know that Starbucks has been working to install wireless chargers in its outlets in the US, and if you’re living overseas and are a frequent patron of Starbucks, you will be interested to learn that Starbucks in the UK has recently announced that they too will be adopting wireless charging in its outlets.

This will allow users with PMA-compatible smartphones to charge their devices wirelessly while enjoying a drink at the cafe. For those who don’t have PMA-compatible devices, Starbucks will have adapters that will allow you to take advantage of the wireless charging anyway. However given that the Qi standard seems to be more widespread, chances are you might have to borrow the adapter from Starbucks.

For those who’d rather not borrow, it seems that Starbucks will be selling the adapters at £10 each which we reckon is a pretty good investment if you’re the type that frequents Starbucks quite often. So far the wireless charging initiative in the UK has made its way to ten of central London’s Starbucks venues.

Starbucks does plan on rolling out the initiative to more of its outlets in the UK, but it is unclear as to when that might happen although if we had to guess, it would be dependent on the success and feedback from its pilot program from these 10 outlets first, so if you’re living in the UK and want to take advantage of wireless charging, head on over to central London to check it out.
