gtav_details09122014_005Without a doubt, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V has been one of the more popular and talked about games ever since it was released in 2013. In fact last we heard, Rockstar managed to ship 34 million units of the game, but this was back in 2014. How does the game fare in 2015? As it turns out, pretty well.

According to Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, they have announced during their investor call that a whopping 45 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V have been shipped to date. 10 million copies of which belong to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version of the game which was released on the 18th of November.

This is particularly impressive given that the game was only released less than 3 months ago. The PC version of the game has been pegged for a release on the 24th of March so we can only imagine that Rockstar’s numbers will be seeing an increase as well from players who might be interested in the PC version.

However we should note that shipped units does not equate to units sold. These units are shipped to retailers who then sell them to gamers, but the amount of units shipped is usually a good indication of how much demand there is for the game, but whether or not all those 45 million copies shipped have been sold is a different story.
