apple_logoA report from a couple of days ago revealed a mysterious van driving around the Bay Area. The car is said to have been leased by Apple and thanks to its gadgets on top of the vehicle, many had speculated that it could either be used as a mapping tool or for self-driving purposes, but assuming it is the latter, what could Apple be up to?

While we can’t be 100% sure, it seems that Apple could be interested in the transportation market. A report from Bloomberg has revealed that Apple has been busy trying to lure employees from Tesla over to the Cupertino company. In fact this was confirmed by Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk himself.

According to Musk, “Apple tries very hard to recruit from Tesla. But so far they’ve actually recruited very few people.” The report claims that Apple has offered these employees very lucrative packages, such as $250,000 signing bonuses and 60% raises. However like Musk said, not many employees have decided to jump ship.

It is unclear as to what Apple wants with Tesla employees, but given the mysterious van sighting and now this report? All signs certainly seems to point towards Apple’s interest in vehicles, but whether it is to create accessories for vehicles or maybe dabble in creating their own fleet of self-driving cars to compete with Google remains to be seen, but what do you guys think?
