iPhone-6-review-12

Despite all efforts by its rivals to steal market share Apple is still going strong in its home country. Latest data by comScore reveals that Apple has retained its spot as the top smartphone manufacturer in the U.S. for the three months ending in February 2015. During this period Apple’s market share stood at 41.7 percent, slightly down from 41.8 percent that it held in the three months ending November 2014.

The data shows that as compared to the numbers from November 2014, Samsung dipped 1.1 percentage points, thus relegating Samsung to 28.6 percent of the U.S. smartphone market during December, January and February.

However Samsung is expected to breathe new life in its smartphone sales with the help of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Both new smartphones have already received a lot of praise from many reviewers and appear to be on track to establish Samsung’s dominance in the high-end Android market once again.

Samsung’s loss was LG’s gain. In went up from 7.6 percent in November 2014 to 8.3 percent of the U.S. market in February 2015. LG is also going to contend for a bigger piece of the pie and for that it has the LG G4 up it sleeve, well, not anymore.

As far as mobile platforms are concerned, Android continues its dominance in the U.S. with 52.8 percent of the entire market. iOS comes in second and Windows Phone rounds up the top three with 3.4 percent. BlackBerry is down to fourth place with just 1.8 percent of the U.S. market.
