We’ve all made a post or comment or two in the past that might be embarrassing if we were to look back at it today, especially if it was made a few years ago when we were younger and more brash. Now those posts could potentially land us in hot water especially amongst our employers as some people have found out the hard way.Thankfully you won’t have to live with your mistakes much long thanks to an app called Clear. The app is designed to help scour your social media pages, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and delete content which it deems inappropriate. This is done through the series of algorithms and through the use of IBM’s supercomputer Watson which helps to filter the material.
Ironically enough the app was created by Ethan Czahor who made headlines earlier this year after he resigned from his job on Jeb Bush’s campaign after a series of inappropriate tweets he made years ago surfaced. Speaking to Mashable, “I was very well aware going in, [politics] was a one-strike-and-you’re-out business. I just didn’t think i would strike out so soon, and in that way.”
So in a way if anyone knows what it feels like, Czahor is probably the man. Now the deletion of your posts is manual in the sense that you’ll need to pick and choose what you want to delete, but the app has the ability to search for what it deems as inappropriate and presents its findings to you. Czahor promises that accuracy of the app will improve over time, but Mashable’s time with app found that for the most part, it managed to detect several posts that contain inappropriate language.
