delphiSelf-driving cars do seem to be gaining a rather strong traction by different companies, and I suppose if you were to roll out one of these rides, it would take a whole lot more research to make sure that such cars are safe – and also, to include a manual override just in case someone hacks into the system and “carnaps” you, so to speak. Well, Delphi, a blue car that comes jam packed with technology, took nine days to drive across the country, from San Francisco all the way to New York City. The journey saw Delphi pass 15 states and 3,400 miles in order to achieve this historical feat.

I do wonder what the reaction from people were like when they were to zip past this ride, only to realize that no one is driving it. Surely this would have caused a couple of stares or so! Basically, Delphi managed 99% of the driving on its own, with the human controlling it when the road required leaving the highway and navigating through far more complex city streets.

Of course, before a full fledged self-driving car becomes normal and roadworthy, there are many more mountains in the form of regulatory and legislative approvals to climb, and the other big question mark would be whether consumers are willing to hand over control of their cars to an electronic brain.
