rockstar-gta5-freebieRockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V for the PC will be released later this month, something no doubt many PC gamers are looking forward to, but there was a period of time when the game’s availability of the PC was questioned, but according to the folks at Rockstar, they say that developing GTA 5 for the PC was always in the cards.

Speaking to PC Gamer, a group of Rockstar North employees spoke about the game in which they said, “We were always going to bring GTA 5 to PC. We planned from day one for a PC build and we made technical decisions based off the fact that we would be doing a PC version of the game.” However it seems that the developer decided to focus their efforts on the console version first, hence the reason why not much was known about the PC version until much later.

“While we started development of the PC version quite early, we decided to focus the bulk of our attention on the PS3 and XB360 versions first in order to push that as far as we possibly could before turning our attention to the PS4 and Xbox One versions.” As some of you might recall, a few years ago when asked about the PC version of the game, Rockstar was a bit vague and stated that they had nothing to share.

This lead to speculation that the PC version might not be in the works which led to gamers signing a petition which reached more than half a million signatures. However later Rockstar made the announcement much to the relief of PC gamers around the world. The game is set for a release on the 15th of April for the PC so if you haven’t pre-ordered the game yet, you probably should.
