Forget about making wings out of wax just to fly, only to plunge to your death due to the wax wings melting when you approach close to the sun. What was that young Icarus thinking of in the first place, anyway? Here is a far safer method to get around, albeit slower and less picturesque, although you can be sure that you will not be short of admirers either, with the Solar Chariot. As the name implies, this particular device will run off the power of the sun, at the same time helping you get from one place to another.

The brainchild of a certain Bob Schneeveis, this particular Solar Chariot is not new to him, since he has been thinking up of different sustainable solar vehicles, where along the way, he has come up with his fair share of walking chariots as well as different kinds of unique conveyances in order to compensate his movement ever since he suffered from a knee injury.

Working at the Stanford University Neurobiology department for many, many years, his skills have definitely come in handy, and it is nice to see the overall Solar Chariot look a whole lot more aesthetically pleasing as opposed to his previous creations. At least form follows function this time around, and we do wonder whether Bob’s idea will be able to be mass produced in due time to help others out in a similar predicament.
