htc-m9eEarly last month, HTC announced the HTC One M9 Plus which we thought was odd given that some aspects of the phone was better than the HTC One M9, which is the company’s flagship phone at the moment. That being said it seems that the One M9 variants are still being churned out by the company.

According to the folks at Engadget, they have spotted in China’s TENAA database another HTC handset, this time going by the name of the HTC One M9e. Based on its specs it seems like this is a variant of the HTC One M9 Plus, except that instead of sporting a metal body, the handset will feature a plastic build instead which could also help make it more affordable.

This means that in terms of specs, we are looking at a 5.2-inch QHD display with 3GB of RAM and a 2.2GHz octa-core processor. While the brand of the processor is unknown, there is a good chance it could be MediaTek which is what the One M9 Plus is using at the moment. It will also sport a 20MP rear-facing camera with dual-tone flash, an UltraPixel front-facing camera, microSD card support, and a fingerprint scanner based on the inclusion of the home button.

No word on whether HTC will be releasing the HTC One M9e stateside, but given that the One M9 Plus did not, we are a little skeptical of the One M9e’s release as well. In any case we’ll keep an eye out for more information regarding the handset, so do check back with us later for the details.
