gtav_details09122014_014Last month Rockstar announced the Rockstar Editor tool which basically allowed Grand Theft Auto 5 players to make and edit their videos based on assets in the game. It was also, at that time, an exclusive to the PC version of the game. However it seems that perhaps its exclusivity was only temporary as Rockstar has mentioned that the feature will arrive on consoles as well.

In a recent Q&A on its website, the developers replied to a question by a fan asking if the Rockstar Editor would arrive on consoles, like the PlayStation 4. The good news is that Rockstar will be bringing the tool to consoles, but the bad news is that it will only be available on newer consoles like those of the PS4 and Xbox One. Apparently this has to do with processing power.

According to Rockstar’s answer, “The Rockstar Editor is an advanced tool requiring additional processing power so it would not be compatible with GTAV on the older systems, but we are currently working on a version tailored for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles – and we hope to release that sometime this summer, or as soon as it is ready.”

Now we’re not sure how one might edit videos on a console using a gamepad, but perhaps Rockstar will figure out a way for gamers to do that, or perhaps the console version will support the use of a keyboard and mouse, but either way console gamers, if you’ve always wanted to make your own GTA 5 movies, you won’t have to wait much longer.
