kindle_for_kidsIn the time before tablets, smartphones, computers, and cable television, kids would play with actual physical toys and read physical books. However given that books can now be easily read on tablets and e-readers, we suppose it makes sense for companies to keep themselves up to date and if you’re looking to develop good reading habits in your children, Amazon has recently launched the Kindle for Kids bundle priced at $99.

It seems that the timing of the bundle is pretty good as it appears to be released in time for the summer. So what’s in this Kindle for Kids bundle? Well basically it will contain a standard Kindle. It will also come with a protective case that should protect the e-reader from any drops or bumps in the event your kids have butterfingers, although an extended warranty from SquareTrade should alleviate some of the worry.

There will also be features designed for children in mind to help them expand their vocabulary through the use of digital flashcards. Amazon also points out that because the Kindle is an e-reader, there will not be any distractions for children such as apps, music, videos, or surfing the internet. Unfortunately it looks like parents will still need to buy their own books but we suppose the money saved from the additional accessories and warranty could be used towards that.
