The Sony Xperia Z3 was released last year and it sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. The Xperia Z4 was announced earlier this year and comes with a new and theoretically more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, but given the reports of overheating which can hamper performance, will it be able to beat its predecessor?

Vietnamese tech reviewer Vật Vờ decided to find out and has since pit both phones together in a speed test which you can see in the video above. The test is similar to those we have seen in the past in which a timer is set and it will see how fast phones can launch and load apps and how it deals with multitasking and apps running in the background.

Now for the most part as we can see in the video, the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z4 appears to be on par in terms of speed, which isn’t a very good sign for the latter already, especially when you consider that it supposedly has the more powerful processor, although in terms of RAM both devices come with 3GB of it.

However towards the end, the disparity becomes even clearer as the Xperia Z3 pulls ahead of the Xperia Z4, finishing all of its tasks a good 7 seconds ahead! Could this be due to the processor getting too hot and hampering its performance? Possibly, although granted this isn’t the most scientific of tests, hopefully it will give you an idea of what to expect should you be planning on picking up Verizon’s Sony Xperia Z4v.
