Rumor has it that Sony is working on three new smartphones called Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Ultra, it’s expected that the company will release the Xperia Z5 by September this year. It’s going to be a proper flagship handset with specifications to match but it remains to be seen if it’s able to turn the fortune of Sony’s troubled mobile business around.

The recent flagship models from Sony, the Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z3+, failed to excite which is why fans are counting on the next one to improve Sony’s position in the global smartphone market.

The Sony Xperia Z5 is rumored to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM as well as a 4,500mAh battery. It’s also believed to come with a fingerprint sensor and a 21 megapixel Sony Exmor RS IMX230 CMOS sensor touting rear camera with support for HDR and 4K video recording.

A September launch timeframe would put the handset in direct competition with the likes of Galaxy Note 5 and the new iPhones which are expected to be released around the same time.

Sony has not yet confirmed anything regarding the Xperia Z5, it hasn’t even acknowledged the handset’s existence so it would be best to take these rumors with a grain of salt for now until we know more from official sources.
