windows 10

With merely a fortnight to go until it’s due to release the latest iteration of its operating system Microsoft has now finalized Windows 10 according to a report, it’s said to have selected build 10240 as the final release to manufacturing or RTM build which is going to be sent out to OEM partners who that they can load the software on their new products.

The Verge reports that Microsoft is signing off on this build internally today and it may announce the RTM release by the end of this week, the possibility also exists that it may not pay much attention to this milestone and instead focus on the upcoming public launch.

Windows 10 will finally be released to the public on July 29th, however new PCs with the software preinstalled won’t be available till until a few weeks after release, which is why initially Microsoft is going to push existing Windows users to upgrade to Windows 10 in its marketing efforts.

Box art for Windows 10 has already been leaked and this very well might be the last time that Microsoft sells boxed copies of Windows since it’s moving towards a completely different model that will see major updates and new iterations being delivered over the internet instead of through the traditional channels.
