htc-logo-sketchYesterday according to a rumor, it was suggested that HTC is working on a new flagship handset called the HTC O2. Now we know for a fact that HTC is working on a new hero smartphone as confirmed by the company’s chairwoman Cher Wang previously, but its specs and its name was up in the air until recently.

The previous report claimed that the handset would come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and now thanks to additional leaks, more information regarding the phone has surfaced. According to the latest rumors, the HTC O2 is said to sport a massive 6-inch QHD display and will come with 4GB of RAM.

It is also rumored to feature 64GB/128GB of storage (no mention of microSD support), a “groundbreaking” 20.7MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, and there is talk about the return of BoomSound and how the phone is also rumored to receive IP certification that will basically certify that the handset will be protected against dust and water to a certain degree.

That being said given that the phone is rumored to feature the Snapdragon 820, this means that it will only be in 2016 that we can expect the device. Chances are this could happen at either CES or MWC 2016, both perfectly great platforms for HTC to make their announcement, but until then take it with a grain of salt.
