Twitter has recently announced that they will be opening up their archives to companies through a new API called Full-Archive Search. According to Twitter, “This new product builds off of our existing 30-Day search solution and extends the available window of instant and complete Twitter access to a span of more than nine years… and counting. The Full-Archive Search API will now allow Gnip customers to immediately search for any historical public Tweet — ever.”
What this means is that if you’d like to track your progress and see how your tweets could be improved upon based on historical data dating back years (assuming you’ve been tweeting that long), now you can. They will also be able to use these historical tweets to provide context to customers, check up on how customer relations are faring when dealing with customers, and see what kind of gripes customers have had over the years.
If you thought it was creepy how much a company knows about you now based on your browsing habits and search history, this new feature could allow companies to get to know you on a whole other level.
