WhatsApp is undoubtedly one of the most popular cross-platform instant messaging services out there, one of the reasons why it’s so popular is the fact that WhatsApp is available on a wide variety of platforms. Not too long ago WhatsApp Web was launched which lets people chat in a browser using a web app, however the feature was not offered to iPhone owners due to “Apple platform limitations,” multiple reports have come in today saying that WhatsApp Web is now live for the iPhone.

WhatsApp Web is already available on rival platforms like Android and Windows Phone so it’s about time that it went live for the iPhone as well.

Many users on reddit pointed out that support for iPhone has now been listed on the WhatsApp website, just like users on other platforms need to do, access to the web service requires running the latest version of WhatsApp on a corresponding smartphone.

It seems like the switch has been flipped on this update without requiring a roll out through the App Store, the feature could have easily been activated through a server side change and it appears that that’s what has happened.

Once the WhatsApp Web feature goes live for everyone iPhone users simply need to go to web.whatsapp.com to access the messaging service through a web browser.
