There are speaker systems and Bluetooth speakers that can be daisy chained. What this means is that connecting multiple speakers together will result in one large speaker that will be able to output a louder sound or be able to play the same song across multiple rooms. However if you don’t have multiple speakers but have several handsets lying around, AmpMe might be a good alternative.

AmpMe is an app designed for iOS and Android devices. What it does is that it takes nearby mobile devices and turns them into extra speakers. Granted the speakers built into our phones aren’t very impressive to begin with, but if you’re out camping with friends or you want to rock out an impromptu listening session, this app could come in handy.

How it works is one user will act as the host of the group. This person basically controls the songs and the playlists. Other users looking to connect to the host will have to enter a 4-digit code in order to be part of the network, which connects either over WiFi or Bluetooth. The devices will need to be near each other as the microphones in the phones will be used to hear the audio in order to sync it.

It’s an interesting app and while we doubt it will be able to beat out a regular set of Bluetooth speakers, like we said in a pinch this should do the trick. Those interested in checking out the app can head on over to the iTunes App Store or Google Play for the download.
