There’s a lot of excitement these days about an upcoming BlackBerry smartphone, a rather unusual sight if you’ve been following how the company’s devices have been performing for the past few years, nevertheless its first Android-powered smartphone has got people talking about BlackBerry again. As per a new rumor it’s possible that the BlackBerry Priv might have a 21 megapixel rear camera.

That would certainly be the best camera yet on a BlackBerry smartphone, the company’s handsets aren’t popular for their imaging prowess, but that might change with the inclusion of Sony’s IMX230 sensor.

Keep in mind though that there’s some debate over the matter of the Priv’s rear camera, in some of the images that have been leaked we see an 18 megapixel rear camera, whereas recent rumors suggest that the final version of this handset will have the 21 megapixel Sony IMX230 sensor.

Even though BlackBerry has officially revealed this device it hasn’t gone into any detail about the specifications, it’s obviously saving that for the launch event which should take place in the near future.

Given that these rumors are coming from unofficial sources it would be best to take them with a grain of salt for now until we can be sure about what the BlackBerry Priv really boasts under the hood.
