AT&T has released a rather big update for LG G4 owners on its network, but before they get excited, allow me to be the bearer of not so good news because the carrier hasn’t released Marshmallow for this handset just yet. Instead the update brings all kinds of improvements and enhancements for the handset including some very important security enhancements.

Given that Android 6.0 Marshmallow was recently released many Android users are now anxiously waiting to get the new update on their devices, but unless they own a Nexus smartphone or tablet, the process is going to take a bit of time as it always does.

So even though they might get excited every time an update notification pops up on their device, it may not always be the Marshmallow update, which will first jump through OEM and even carrier hoops before it arrives.

As for this 420MB update for LG G4 on AT&T, it brings enhancements for the battery, keyboard software, calendar app, LG Backup, GPS, Exchange Active Sync and the camera app.

Improvements for touch and security features are also included in this update which has already been rolled out by AT&T over-the-air for LG G4 users on its network. Ensure that you’re on Wi-Fi and the battery has at least 50 percent charge before downloading and installing the update.
