Earlier this year, the folks at ArenaNet announced an expansion to Guild Wars 2 in the form of Heart of Thorns. The good news is that if you are still actively playing the game or if you’re considering making a return, you might be pleased to learn that the Heart of Thorns expansion has since been released.

The expansion will be pretty much standard in terms of what we can expect from MMORPG expansions. For starters there will be a new Mastery system that helps players progress their characters in new ways. There will also be a new zone in the form of the Maguuma Jungle where there will be new events and storylines.

There are also profession specializations, a new profession in the form of the Revenant,  and there are also new Guild Halls so that guild members can congregate and meet up. The expansion has also introduced new PVP battlegrounds in the form of Stronghold, World vs World events, and how could we forget new raids and dungeons for players to explore.

Guild Wars 2 is currently free-to-play but if you want to get your hands on the expansion, you will have to pay for it. It will cost $50 for the Standard edition, $75 for the Deluxe edition, and $100 for the Ultimate edition. More details can be found on the Guild Wars 2 website.
