Apple today released a major update for its mobile operating system, this is the third update that has so far been released for iOS 9.0. Rolling out now, iOS 9.1 brings a ton of new emojis for supported devices as well as improvements for the Live Photos feature that was recently introduced. Also included in this update are bug fixes, performance and stability improvements. Also released today is the tvOS golden master build which is the final version of the software that will be available when the new Apple TV arrives next week.

iOS 9.1 has support for Unicode 7 and 8 which enables a host of new emojis including but not limited to taco, unicorn head, champagne bottle, middle finger and many others. Emoji lovers are certainly going to love this update as it provides them with many new options to better express themselves.

The Live Photos feature gets improved in this update, it can now ascertain when the iPhone is lowered or raised so that it no longer records unnecessary movements. A new Messages option has been added in the settings app through this update which lets users disable photos for contacts.

Compatibility updates for upcoming Apple products like the iPad Pro and the new Apple TV are also included in iOS 9.1. Important security fixes are also onboard, so are performance improvements and bug fixes. Folks in the United Kingdom also get the Apple News app with iOS 9.1.
