Samsung-Galaxy-S6-Edge-Plus-11

Mobile World Congress 2016 takes place in February next year and it’s expected that in line with tradition Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge just one day before the convention kicks off. Samsung is believed to continue the two models that it launched this year, Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, though this time around the Edge variant may have a display that curves on all four sides, at least that’s what a rumor out of China will have you believe.

The Galaxy S6 Edge represented a leap forward in Samsung’s design strategy, it has a metal frame coupled with a display that curves on the right and left edges. The curved display may not serve much purpose as far as functionality goes but it does make the handset look really good, and if the rumor is to be believed, Galaxy S7 Edge will take this even further by touting a display that curves on all four sides.

That would mean the display’s top and bottom edges would also be curved, though the rumor doesn’t address how that will be implemented. For example if the glass would flow beyond the fingerprint sensor and the capacitive buttons and curve into the frame, this is just pure speculation since the rumor doesn’t address that.

It also remains to be seen what purpose a display that curves on four edges would serve aside from looking pretty, the curve on the S6 Edge isn’t as pronounced as the one on the Galaxy Note Edge, so it’s not possible to have those features. Nothing has been said so far which indicates that the curves on the Galaxy S7 Edge will not be similar to its predecessor.

Best take this rumor with a grain of salt right now, it just doesn’t quite add up just yet.
