Screen Flicker Fix For Surface Pro 4 And Surface Book

microsoft_surface_book_8It would be really something if a particular device were to be released to the market without seeing it experience some sort of problem or issue – minor or otherwise, right? Well, the same goes for the in-demand Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, where both of them have just entered their second week of availability. Of course, this has led to several users being unhappy with their purchases, since several issues have cropped up along the way – with one of them being an unresponsive display driver that results in sporadic screen flickering, not to mention a possible battery drain issue that is seemingly fixed.

Thankfully for users, it looks like Microsoft has already worked on those issues, and it seems that a firmware update has been released for these devices, and there is an accompanying change log so that you know what is going on, and what are the changes made. The change log implies:

HD Graphics 520 driver update (v20.19.15.4308) addresses some display issues, including some scenarios that result in screen flickering.
Display audio driver update (v8.20.0.659) supports compatibility with the updated graphics driver.
Surface Embedded Controller Firmware update (v103.855.257.0) improves system stability.
Surface Pen Settings driver update (v10.0.302.0) adds support for future functionality on Windows 10.

It is nice to see Microsoft take up ownership of the situation as they rightly should. Regardless, the Microsoft Surface Book is touted to be difficult to repair, so you might want to handle it carefully throughout its lifetime.
