Nexus-5X-Ui-05With the launch of the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P, Google introduced an updated camera app to the phones. Unfortunately the updated camera was only available for both handsets at that time, and the good news is that if you like what you saw and wanted it for your Android handset, you might be pleased to learn that the updated app is now available in the Google Play Store.

For those unfamiliar, last year Google launched a standalone camera app for Android devices. This is pretty much the same camera one can expect from Nexus devices. It’s not too fancy and does the job, so for users wanting a more comprehensive and feature-rich camera, this is probably not it.

However for those who want a simple, clean, and straightforward camera app, this could be what you’re looking for. That being said, the updated app basically brings the camera UI found on the new Nexus handsets onto other Android devices. Now there have been some complaints by Nexus owners previously that the camera app’s performance is a bit slow.

We’re not sure if the updated app has addressed that, but hopefully Google has. If you’d like to check it out and take it for a spin (why not, it’s free anyway), then head on over to the Google Play Store for the download.
