Say you’re sleeping and an earthquake hits. Now there are several things that have been recommended that one should do in an earthquake, but what if you’d rather not move and disturb your sleep? If you’d rather just sleep through the earthquake and not worry about the roof falling on top of you, these earthquake-proof bed concepts might be worth checking out.

At the moment it is unclear as to who came up with these concepts but according to the folks at Gizmodo, they have suggested it could be the work of Chinese inventor Wang Wenxi who had in 2010 patented similar ideas, but either way these concepts are pretty amazing and to a certain extent, pretty hilarious in their execution.

Now there are several designs that have been thought up. One of the designs involves a false bottom where a hole below the bed frame opens up and drops you and the mattress below. It will then seal itself up in a metal container, so in the event that the roof does fall on top of you, you will be protected.

Other designs include a four-poster bed where the top of the bed frame will retract downwards, kind of like a lid and keep you covered and protected. In each concept, it also shows that stored underneath the beds are bottles of water, fire extinguishers, gas masks, first aid kits, food, and etc., basically things to keep you alive until you are rescued. If you have a couple of minutes to spare, then the video above should be worth your time.
