Yesterday it was reported that Hideo Kojima had reportedly left Konami and it looks like the reports were true. This has been confirmed by Kojima himself on his Twitter where he wrote, “My employment contract with Konami has been terminated as of Dec 15th, so today marks a new start for me. I’m committed to be involved in creative activities for as long as I live.”

To that end, Kojima has also announced a new studio of his own called Kojima Productions and even created a website specifically for it. According to the press release put out by the newly-formed studio, “KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS announced today that it has officially opened its doors. Lead by award-winning game designer, HIDEO KOJIMA, the studio will begin focusing its efforts in developing products that will push the boundaries in innovation and ignite consumer interest worldwide.”

At the moment we reckon it might be too early to tell what exactly Kojima and his new studio are up to, but what we do know is that they have teamed up with Sony and will be creating games for the PlayStation platform. This was announced by Sony in the video above. As it stands it looks like the studio is still trying to piece a team together and have posted job listings for various positions, ranging from character artists, to animators, to game designers, level designers, and more.

Either way it is rather exciting and we can’t wait to see what Kojima and his new studio get up to.
